I am not an academic (though in training) and I will not pretend to be an academic in facillitating this class. My aim here is not to teach but to guide you in being an independent learner, to educate yourself in different ways of looking at things, to explore areas of your intellect and creativity that you might not have thought yourself to possess. I too learn in the process.

Week 1: What is arts and science? Can the twain meet? Are they are different as they seemed? The age of renaissance and the age of specialisation. Exercises and samples in this area (will be culled from disparate materials)
Week 2: Literariness and science fiction->how could they work with and against each other. Can science fiction be analysed using conventional literary methods? Science and Mathematics in literature -> The riddle in the story telling.
Week 3: Cognitive theories, physics, literary theory and philosophical reasonings: how do all these elements work in combination to conjure up a work of creativity.
Week 4: The chicken and egg theory: the artist or the physicist comes first?
Week 5: Elements of the arts in literature.
Week 6 : Reader and audience response:-> critical theories and how it relates to us
Week 7 : Music, Art, Dance and Literature : How can each help us to understand the other better
Week 8: Popular culture in the arts and Sciences: a critical appraisal
Week 9: The vagaries of intuition: how it works for and against us in the arts and science
Week 11: Can we trust our senses: how we look at art and nature.
Week 12: Appreciating the genders in stories
Week 13:Summarising all that has been learnt (free class!)

The suggested syllabus above is just a rough guide and the final syllabus might be a slightly different version, since I plan to improve on it as I refine it further. This is because I hope to achieve optimal result through the use of the brain, senses and intuition. This is a kind of experiment for me as well, and hence I am charging at a low rate just to cover my expenses in terms of getting a venue for the class, sourcing of materials, and travelling. (: Currently the price is set at RM30, per person, though there might be a small charge to cover expenses of getting certain materials for everyone. but nothing is confirmed as yet and there could be some changes to it (but not for the worst!)
