RECOMMENDATION FOR EXPANSION

 

1.     Each of the energy eigenstate could be reconciled to the orbital levels as given either in quantum physics book or at Appendix A of the thesis.  Therefore, energy transition could also be determined.

2.     This particular project only covers one-electron

atoms.  Two-electron atoms and multi-electron atoms could be covered as a continuation of this project.

3.     Other approximation methods may be also used besides the mean field potential.

4.     This particular project does not take into account magnetic spin, total angular momentum and j-j coupling.  Future projects could cover these area. From there, we could look into the application of the work here in lasers especially atomic lasers.

5.     A higher order numerical method could also be used to get more accurate values.

6.     The software that has been developed here could be further improved for more enhancements and ease,convenience and efficiency.  Future projects should look into that.

7.     This project could be continued to the graduate level by using other more accurate methods besides the bisection method for the other methods might require knowledge beyond that of the undergraduate level.

8.     Perhaps this project could be combined with other projects that can provide a more practical application.
